Cod & Chips

Cod & Chips is a short film we made with the assistance of funding from Screen Ireland and RTÉ as part of the Frameworks scheme.

The challenge was to make a satisfying story about a delicate subject in a way that felt unique and entertaining and was in some way specific to the time and place where it was made.

We've been delighted by the response to the film. It played in competition at the Brooklyn Film Festival in 2024 and at over 20 festivals around the world picking up a few gongs along the way.

A lot of very talented people helped us out along the way. Chelsea McGough composed and performed a haunting soundtrack which acted as the main theme. We were delighted to bring PJ Gallagher and Kevin McGahern on board as the voices of the seagull and man. They had a great chemistry between them as characters which really brought the whole thing to life. Thanks for everyone who made the short possible!

It was a real thrill when the short was included in the Brooklyn Film Festival 2024. Here’s a link to some photos taken at the event with Matthew Pidgeon who wrote and directed “Cod & Chips” pictured in the black t-shirt. Alongside him are Eva Hall, Skyler and Davis Diamond and Steven Wang. Thanks to the compere on the night Allyson Morgan for the photos.
